it doesn't really but the idea had sense because when the buboes burst you were healed but could get it again. if you had the pneumonic plague you would die after the first few days whereas you could be healed with the bubonic plauge but it took longer to get rid of

There was no Cure the people could do nothing to prevent it. They did not have the knowledge to know what was happening. They tried to prevent it by burning aromatic herbs and wood, spreading flowers, rosewater and vinegar around there homes. They tried to avoid breathing in germs. Sitting next to a fire (priests would sit throughout summer in front of a fire) They would cut of there house and prevent wind from entering and they would attack foreigners or people from a different religion.

Within 3 to 7 days of exposure to plague bacteria, you will develop flu-like symptoms such as fever, headache, chills, weakness, and swollen, tender lymph glands (called buboes-hence the name bubonic)...Early medical treatment is necessary otherwise patient can die.

Symptoms of the Black Plague included fever, pain, chills, buboes or swellings of the lymph nodes often in the groin, and seizures. Respiratory difficulties were common, along with lethargy. Some died within hours of having the symptoms but it generally took 2 to 7 days. Sometimes fingers and toes turned black and rotted. Many had rash-like black spots which may have been from the flea bites that spread the plague. The victims would vomit blood.

The numerous plague ‘cures’: strapping live chickens around plague buboes or drinking potions laced with mercury, arsenic or ground horn from the mythical unicorn did not help. Nor did carrying sweet-smelling flowers and herbs or ornate pomanders to purify the air.
You open them, put what you are cutting in the open part, then close them.
