How had the Hundred years of war affect France?

France had several disadvantages. They included: 1. Their army, consisting mostly of Knights and infantry, was no match for the devastating longbow of the British army 2. France was not particularly well organised at the time 3. Britain was wealthier (I think - I'm not sure though. Please correct me if wrong)

Firstly, it is known that the French outnumbered the English by at least 3 to 1, with the English having about 6000 men and the french having at least 3 times that number, while the English were commanded by a few royal Dukes and Nobleman, the absolute command of the English army was under King Henry V, while the french had no certain command structure, formally the army was led by Charles d,albret, but how far he could go to command the many other nobleman, all jealous and suspicious of the others power, was questionable. Also, many of the french army were called to arms under the now archaic feudal system, where loyalty, discipline and commitment were hard to guarantee, the English however were paid soldiers who were paid for every day they were in campaign.

The training of the two armies must also be taken into account, many of the french had little or no military training except for the nobles, the English however were trained archers and men at arms, the tactics of the two armies were also different, the french tactic was a full scale cavalry and infantry charge that it was hoped to overwhelm the enemy, this tactic was suicidal against a massed archer attack as shown in battles especially in the 1300's, in the battle of Agincourt, the french charged first with their cavalry only to be ripped to shreds by thousands of English longbow arrows, then the french did a infantry charge with exactly the same result, this time with the English men at arms entering the battle.

The terrain did not assist the french, the ground was muddy, and two forests either side of the battlefield forced the french into a bottle neck which made them densely packed, easy targets for English longbowmen, overall, over confidence, bad tactics, lack of training, the weather and no clear command structure were the disadvantages to the french in the battle of Agincourt.

The Hundred years war was so diverse and long that the whole world was affected by it you can't really answer this question because it is like asking what effect did Christianity have on world politics and Europe or what effect would be caused on me if I was public schooled instead of home schooled; the effect is monumental . I suppose you could ask how a specific battle or life had effected on France or the war it self and you could say that France as we know it would not exist and there by the world as we know it would not exist just as if you went back in time and killed Hitler as a baby then every thing would be different and not necessarily for the best.
