The tools of broadcast may not have changed- you have a camera, mike and some kind of transmitter- But because people can basically format a radio station ( playlist ) to music of their own taste and liking. And they can put together a video news show with news of their own choosing, broadcast has changed. It is out of the hands of a few large companies and into the hands of the masses.
While most of the large broadcast giants had well trained, mostly unbiased, and well educated staffs and news people, this is no longer the case. Most people are ill equipped to deal with the "who,what,where, when and how" of a trained journalist. Some of the larger broadcast companies have radicalized themselves to keep and attract viewers and listeners.
