There have been significant changes tied to technology. When I was little, computers were huge and very expensive. Now they are available to nearly everyone. This also has changed communication. We only had telephones and not in every household where now - cellphones - talking to anyone you must or want to, as you run errands. As kids we spent a lot of time outside, drinking out of the lawn hose, streams or rivers as needed. Now it is all about bottled water, and playing games on game consoles or computers. Shopping could only be done if we went to the store, now we can order from our homes. It is a time of nearly instant gratification rather than patience.
