How long did it take to build the catacombs of Paris?

The Paris catacombs began as Roman quarry tunnels around 60 BCE. Around 1785, the government began converting 350 of these underground quarries into mass graves, because of desperate overcrowding in the medieval cemeteries in the centre of Paris.
