I do not know an exact number, but I would guess at only a minority. The fact that many were sent away from the main towns and cities affected by bombing kept them safer. Disease was probably a bigger killer than bombs. There had been much fear about this before the outbreak of war. However, the total number of British civilian war dead in WW2 was 65,000 - so the idea that a large number of children died is inaccurate.
