There's a somewhat famous incident in Flanders, near where the battles of Passchendaele and Ypres occurred, where an allied soldier actually had Lance Corporal Hitler in his sights. Hitler was so torn up and shellshocked the soldier let him walk off unhurt. This is a true story. Hitler himself had a picture painted of the incident after he rose to power. The table Hitler leaned over protected most of his vital organs, and the fact the briefcase in which the bomb was placed in was moved from it's original place, closest to Hitler's leg, removed most of the blast from his general area. He survived with deep splinters in his legs and a broken wrist.
