Matt. 12:40 says three days and three nights. So He did not die on Good Friday...

In the Gospel of Matthew 27: 62-66 we are told that the chief priests and Pharisees asked Pilate (not Herod) to secure the tomb that Jesus was buried in. We are not given any names in the bible.
A tomb is a place to lay the dead to rest. It can take almost as many forms as can be imagined. A tomb is a place where the dead are put, or "laid to rest" if one prefers. The tomb can take many forms, as one can easily imagine.
Nicodemus. See John 19:38-40.
Followers of Jesus sought and received permission to remove his body from the Cross. His body was laid to rest in the unused tomb of Joseph of Arimathea.
Jesus was in the tomb for three days before his resurrection.
Three days
There isn't one. The Bible is very specific that it was Jesus who was Crucified, Died, and Buried in the Tomb for 3 full days and nights. Then it was Jesus who was Resurrected and after 40 days, ascended to His Father and our Father.
Jesus was in the tomb for three days before his resurrection.
Jesus a friend of Lazrus , and he was dead for three days, so Jesus called Lazrus to come from the tomb.
For three days Jesus lay dead in the tomb, as the scripture said it would be.
Jesus resurected three days after being crucified and put in the tomb
Elements of Jonah's three days in the belly of a great fish are paralleled in the New testament by Jesus' three days in the tomb. This is mentioned as being so in Matthew 12:40 (KJV): For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
Jesus was buried in the tomb of Joseph of Arithmea and it was a pre-paid and pre-owned tomb. Joseph had a tomb all ready for his own burial spot and he gave it for free to be used for Jesus body . Three days later Jesus was resurrected.
Jesus was crucified on the Friday and buried before sunset as the Sabbath, in Jewish Law, begins at sunset on the Friday, until sunset on the Saturday. He was in the tomb on the Saturday, but we are told that early on the Sunday morning (before it got light) the women who attended the tomb found it empty. By modern day reckoning, Jesus was in the tomb just two nights and one day, and even then only part of the second night. In actual hours he was in the tomb around 36 hours. However, the Jewish custom in those days was of reckoning even part of a day as a day. Therefore, Friday was the first day, Saturday was the second and Sunday (even only the first few hours) was regarded as the third day. hence Jesus' claim that 'on the Third Day I shall rise again', or 'I will destroy this Temple and in three days rebuild it'.
Jesus was not in the tomb he had risen.
Some have indeed suggested this, but it actually involves a misunderstading of Jewish inclusive reckoning. A part of a day (or night) was considered as effectively a whole and counted and so Jesus did not need to spend 72 hours (according to our reckoning)in the tomb to meet the requirement of three days and three nights.
