Ther were more than 175,000 Allied soldiers that participated in D-Day. More 24,000 British and American Paratroopers & Glider troopers landed behind the lines. infantrymen of the 2nd and 5th Ranger Battalion were there. There were the Canadians, the British and a small team of Free French troops. What THAT means is 195,701 Allied men were in D-Day.
My father was in the 149th combat engineer battalion. They landed on DDay on Omaha Beach. Their boat hit a mine coming in and several men were injured or killed. My father was injured, but able to go on.
