There were seven battleships in the harbor and one ex-battleship, the Utah, which had been re-designated as a target ship. Only three, Utah, Arizona, and Oklahoma, were destroyed.

The Utah was sunk in the first 10 minutes of the attack and never raised.

The Arizona was struck by an armor-piercing bomb which ignited her powder magazines. She has remained in the harbor and been designated a national shrine.

The Oklahoma was struck by 5 bombs and capsized. She was decommissioned shortly after and never returned to duty.

The West Virginia was sunk, but raised and repaired in 1942. She received 5 battle stars for action in the remainder of the war.

Nevada got underway, but after being struck by bombs and torpedoes she was beached. She was re-floated in February and went on to receive 7 battle stars.

California was sunk, but re-floated in March 1942 and sent to Puget Sound for repairs. She also earned 7 battle stars in World War II.

Maryland was struck by two bombs but soon returned to full duty. She also earned 7 battle stars.

Tennessee received the least damage of any of the battleships and was being repaired by December 16. She received 10 battle stars.
