That actually depends. Inflation was crazy in the 50's. Prices more than doubled between 1950 and 1959. It also depends on what kind of dress. A regular everyday dress would cost about 6.00-8.00 USD. Fabric to make your own dress (which was common) would be about 1.00-2.00. The only way someone would pay 100.00 for a dress in any part of the 50's is if it was couture. Just about everything in the 50's cost around 10% of what it does today.
