His father, James was from Scotland and his mother was French Huguenot from the Caribbean island of Nevis. There is no record, from thorough study of Hamilton's and other's papers that described anything about an accent. Alexander's father left the family when he was 8 and his mother died when he was 11. He arrived in NY when he was 15 years old.
Hawthornes father died when he was four.

Elie Wiesel was 15 Years old when he was sent to Auschwitz-Birkenau on May 16th 1944.
Elie Wiesel was 12 years old in 1940. In 1944 his family was put into one of the ghettos in Romania. They were then sent to Auschwitz Birkenau concentration camp. Then he and his father were sent to Buchenwald and were liberated in October 1945 by the Allied Forces. see link below for more stories
Elie father died of a high fever and he was very hold at that time too. He was also very weak.
elie wiesel was fifteen when he first got to the camp and as dr. Mengela directed the Jews as to wich way to go left or right...left being to the showers where most women who wouldn't leave their children went to and all the kids that were too young to work went to to be killed by gas and right was where they sent the people to go to work at and elie wiesel heard from someone to lie about his age so he told dr. Mengela and the generals that he was eigteen and that he worked on a farm with his father and so they sent elie to work and that's how he survived and how old he was
When Elie and his family first arrived at the concentration camp, the men were told to line up in one line and the women in the other. The women were taken somewhere else at the camp, and the men went to an area of the camp near the crematorium. There, the went through selection and the boys too young to work and the men too old to work were taken to the crematorium, and well, i think you know what happened to them. The survivors of the selection were then taken to barracks where inmates tattooed numbers on the arms of the new arrivals. This is how the inmates were kept track of. Elie's father was in his fifties but to the officers he said that he was forty because in the holocaust you weren't not aloud to work if you were older than fifty they would just kill you
