The Korean War began in 1950 when anti-communism was very much to the fore, so I think it was quite popular with most people in the West. It was not televised extensivly simply because T.V. was in its infantcy, invented in 1936, after a couple of years of broadcsting to a tiny restricted audience,it was postponed due to w.w.2 and only had the late 40's to re-establish itself before coming into more public use in 1950-53. Most news came via the movie theatre newsreels, filmed on site and flown back to be shown at the movies.
