On the first voyage, Columbus was treated as a hero. But then as he went on his second voyage, Christopher made a colony on El Salvador, (The Savior) He governed it. He was very cruel, cutting of ears and noses if any one stole, and the people grew afraid, and wrote to the king and queen of Spain. The rulers were notified and grew worried. Columbus was made a prisoner in his own colony, until a ship to bring him to Spain took him there. Then his reputation and money was terrible, no body liked him, and he was financially in dept. He was a ruined man, and it was not until two decades after his death would we realize he was guilty of finding the Americas.
