Joseph Stalin ordered all land routes into Berlin to be blocked after the Americans angered him by introducing the Deutschemark into West Berlin.
They blockaded all the roads leading into Berlin (east Berlin) so food and goods could be brought in to the starving German Berliners. If you can't get there by truck then fly it in the US decided. They did air drops and landed the planes to unloaded them. Eventually Stalin stopped being stubborn and let them in by road.
The Berlin Wall started in East Germany, seperating the 2 sections of East Germany and ended in 1981. (I hope this helped!!) -Khloe
some say the Truman Doctrine of 1947 was the beginning. Still others say the 1948 Berlin blockaed and airlift signaled the start. 1947-1948
The Berlin wall started when Germany was divided up into 4 section 1 for the U.S 1 for the USSR 1 for France and 1 for Britain then after that the people in east Berlin were trying to escape communism by fleeing into the western side of Germany the communist were angry and decided to built a wall stopping all from crossing the boarder.
Adolf Hitler. His actions resulted in World War II.
The Berlin Airlift was in '62 when the wall went up.

The Berlin Airlift occurred after World War 2. When Germany surrendered, the four major countries of the Allies were placed in charge as occupation forces. The four countries were USA, Britain, France and Russia. The country was divided up into sectors and placed under the control of each country and the capitol city of Berlin was also divided. Later, Russia began to isolate the territories under their rule, including other border countries. This divided Germany and eventually Russia erected a wall that was known as the "Iron Curtain" along the border. Since the city of Berlin was within the region occupied by Russia, the sectors of the city that was under the rule of US, Britain and France were cut off from the other regions of Germany to the west, which still had some freedom. The Soviet Prime Minister wanted to exert complete control, so he closed the only road that connected the part of Berlin that was free from the remaining West Germany. The US and the other allies didn't want Russia to take complete control over Berlin, so they sent food and supplies into Berlin by air---thus the Berlin Airlift.

The Berlin airlift was the answer of the Western Allies to the Soviet Union's effort to forcibly do away with the arrangements made with the other former Allies on the subject of the division of Germany and Berlin. Basically, Stalin tried to chase (or rather, 'starve') the Western Allies out of their parts of Berlin by closing off all their overland supply routes. Stalin lifted his siege of West Berlin only when he found that the airlift managed to still fully supply the Berlin people. The Cuban crisis was a 'rivalry' issue in that the US over the years before had been positioning tons of atomic weapons and missiles right at the Soviet Union's doorstep in Western Europe. Cuba's Communist regime offered the Soviet Union the chance of doing the same to the US. Only when the US threatened to blow the launching site off the map and start an atomic war if necessary if the ship carrying the missiles wasn't recalled, the USSR decided to call the mission off.
