The thesis of the Declaration of Independence states that any people who are being abused or oppressed by their government has the right and duty to overthrow it and create a new one in its place. It also states that the citizens of America have undergone such abuse by the British government to make it necessary to fight for independence.
The sentence from the Declaration of Independence that best illustrates King George III's abuse of executive power is: "He has dissolved Representative Houses repeatedly, for opposing with manly firmness his invasions on the rights of the people." This statement highlights the king's actions in suppressing colonial governance and disregarding the colonists' rights, demonstrating a clear overreach of his authority and a refusal to respect the principles of representative government.
