The Weimar was a democratic government put in place after the kaiser abdicated. It ruled by popular vote, however it did not rule effectively. And that made it made Hitler's ascent to power easier.
The Weimar republic was Germanys attempt at Democracy after WWI. Actually America donated over 200 million dollars for this attempt. However, they were not used to rule by the people and were to used to monarchs. Not to mention the inflation and Global depression. So this slick guy named Adolf Hitler came in and well that's another story.
Article 48 of the Weimar constitution allowed the president to rule by decree at times of an emergency and gave the president the right to override the Reichstag and provide leadership "above party".Article 48 of the Weimar constitution made provision for rule by decree in an emergency.
The Weimar Republic Constitution had a rule that the constitution could be modified by a 2/3 majority of the Reichstag. Hitler's Nazi Party held about 43% of seats, and controlled most of the Cabinet, but they bullied the other politicians into passing an Enabling Act, which allowed the Chancellor (Hitler's role) and the Cabinet to create laws that circumvented the Reichstag - or even the Constitution. This is generally seen as the key moment when the Weimar Republic ended and Nazi dictatorship began. After that, the Reichstag was quietly disbanded.
inherent defects of weimar republic :- a) One was proportional representation . This made achieving majority by any one party a near impossible task leading to rule by coalition b) Another defect was article 48 which gave the president the power to impose emergency, suspend civil rights and rule by decree c) People lost confidence in democratic parliamentary system which seem to offer no solutions

No republic is based on minority rule. On the contrary, republics are based on every adult having a vote, -this is called MAJORITY rule
Republics do not have rulers.
Before the Wehrmacht, the German army was known as the Reichswehr. Established after World War I under the Treaty of Versailles, the Reichswehr was limited in size and capabilities. It served as the military force of the Weimar Republic until it was restructured and expanded into the Wehrmacht in the 1930s under Nazi rule.
