The pyramids were tombs for kings
Actually I believe they were used for storing the royals bodies after they had passed away, or at least I believe that's what I read in my social studies book...
That's the same thing, look up "tomb" in the dictionary. However it was also more than just that. The reason they were so huge is because there are several rooms in it to keep their personal belongings, because the Egyptians believed that the kings' ghosts would roam the pyramid. I'm sure you could find some diagrams online of what went where and why.
