As Immigration increased, so did the growing Xenophobia in the country.
The Immigration Act of 1917 banned homosexuals, criminals, and polygamists from entering the United States. It also banned insane people and epileptics.
The Immigration Act of 1924 (Johnson-Reed Act) included the National Origins Act, and Asian Exclusion Act. It was a US federal law that limited the number of immigrants allowed to enter the US. The number of eligible immigrants was set at 2% of the number of people from that country who were already living in the US (according to the 1890 Census). This had the effect of effectively cutting off the flow of immigrants from southern and eastern Europe, who were then fewer in number, and allowing large numbers from northern and western Europe. The Asian Exclusion Act excluded immigrants from Japan, China, the Philippines, and Southeast Asia, as they were ineligible for citizenship. This superseded the 1921 Emergency Quota Act. The act set no limits on immigration from Latin America.
Italy.
In 1882, Congress passed a law which stopped immigration from the country of China. This was called the Immigration Act of 1882.
Yes
The Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 prevented Chinese immigrants already in the United States from becoming citizens. This law prohibited Chinese laborers from entering the country and stopped those already living in the US from naturalizing as citizens. It was the first law to restrict immigration based on nationality.
Exclusion laws are laws passed to prohibit further immigration from a particular country or region. They are rarely seen today, and not at all in free countries, although they were certainly common in previous centuries. Now the term seems to apply to the exclusion of certain substances in particular araes, e.g. exclusion of alcohol in hospitals.
The first U.S. law to restrict immigration was the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882, which prohibited the immigration of Chinese laborers to the United States. It was the first federal law to restrict a specific ethnic group from entering the country.

there was a heavy Immigration flow into the country
What country was excluded in the 1920 immigration
In 1920 congress passed the emergency quota act , which limited the number of immigrants from any country to be less than 3% per year of the total number of immigrants. Congress passed the immigration act to change the percentage to be 2% and to specifically restrict immigration from east asia and southern and eastern europe. The idea was to keep the socialists and communists out of the country, for example " sacco and vanzentti case "
Immigration is moving into a country. Moving out of a country is known as emigration.
The Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 was passed in response to anti-Chinese sentiment and labor market competition in the United States. It aimed to restrict Chinese immigration and prevent Chinese laborers from entering the country, ultimately protecting American workers and wages.
