Think it is Acis and Galatea
Is the question who was the mother ofAchilles? In Greek mythology (fiction) Achilles was the son of the nymph Thetis and Peleus, the king of the Myrmidons. (Wikipedia.)
Here's the basic myth: Apollo was bragging to Eros that his arrows were far more potent than the petty love arrows Eros had. Eros shot him with one, and he fell in love with a wood nymph. This wood nymph, Daphne, had been shot with a lead arrow, so she was to never fall in love. She was chased across the forest by Apollo. She cries "Father, help me!" and her father, who is Peneus, river god, turns her into a laurel tree. That is why Apollo uses the laurel tree for his symbol and his woven crown.
Echo wasn't a goddess. She was a nymph. A nymph is a lesser goddess usually associated with nature and its wonders; thus Echo became the 'goddess' of echoes with her curse.

The hero's name is Achilles and she did this to make him invicible. Sadly I don't remember the mother's name but I know that she is a water nymph. The only part of Achilles that wasn't invincible was his heel that she held him by when she dipped him in the river. This is where whe get the term Achilles's heel.
