Yes. It is true. I read the account of the event in the Reader's Digest a couple of years ago. Major Somerford was struck from his horse by a bolt of lightning in the fields of Flanders in W.W.1. He survived but was paralysed from the waist down. Whilst convalescing one day back home in a local park, he was again struck by lightning and was killed. The story goes on to say that some time after, his tomb was destroyed by a bolt of lighting. The article was entitled; "Coincidence or Something Darker?" This is as accurate as my memory allows.
