The Answer to the question is YES, not no. This response to a very logical question, written in 2011, is complete horseshit. In 2016, at the latest, females were eligible to be enlisted Navy SEAL team members. If you read this "Answers" before then forget what it says. Why in hell it's not updated I cannot understand.
No, women are not allowed in any jobs that fall under the "combat arms" category. That basically means any Military occupation that involves being a part of a combat team/unit. The SEALs are trained to, and work as, an elite combat group
Special Warfare Combatant-craft Crewmen (SWCC's) are specially trained for SEAL Team insertion and extraction. SWCC's are trained in many areas. They are masters of SEAL insertion and extraction in all types of weather, conditions, waterways, oceans, environments, etc. SWCC's are attached to the Special Boat Teams of the Navy's Special Warfare Community.

Navy SEAL Team 9 was a part of the U.S. Navy's SEAL Teams, but it was disbanded in the early 1990s as part of a restructuring of naval special operations forces. The team was not involved in any specific infamous incidents, but its disbandment was part of a broader trend of reorganizing and consolidating special operations units. Today, the Navy SEALs continue to operate with a focus on counter-terrorism and other specialized missions.

The only way to serve on a SEAL team without being in the Navy is by joining the Air Force, becoming a Combat Controller. After that, the Air Force will put you on a special operations team that needs someone with those skills. The teams include Army Rangers and Special Forces teams, AF Special Tactics Teams, and Navy SEAL teams. You won't be a SEAL in the sense of the word, but you will operate with them in the field as part of the team.
