In general, Southern newspapers saw abolitionists as responsible for the turmoil in Kansas. One notable and widely read publication, De Bow's Review had a "southern viewpoint". It was a Southern magazine. This publication called "Bleeding Kansas" a war on the South. It summarized the events in Kansas as evidence that there was a national plot to wipe away slavery at any cost, even murders.

The border between Nebraska and Kansas is roughly defined by the 40th parallel north latitude. This line marks the northern boundary of Kansas and the southern boundary of Nebraska, extending horizontally across the two states.
Southern senators initially blocked the organization of the Kansas and Nebraska territories because they feared that the establishment of these territories would lead to the expansion of free states, thereby threatening the balance of power between free and slave states in Congress. The issue was particularly contentious due to the Missouri Compromise, which had previously restricted slavery in those regions. Southern lawmakers wanted to ensure that any new territories would allow for slavery, leading to the introduction of the Kansas-Nebraska Act, which effectively repealed the Missouri Compromise and allowed settlers to decide the issue of slavery through popular sovereignty.
Answer: Because Kansas and Nebraska (which were both territories not states at the time) had to vote on whether they would allow slavery in their territory or not. So, supporters of slavery and those against slavery rushed to these places so they could participate in the vote. Some violence also broke out, which led the term "Bleeding Kansas".
