This depends who you inquire. Personally, I think that it is, because she described most of the restrictions placed on the Jews during the Holocaust. Also, she describes how she lived in hiding to survive as a Jew and also why she had to live there. Another reason that it is an accurate historical document is that she gets taken up by the Gestapo and sent to two concentration camps, Auschwitz and Belsen, where she dies, just because she is a Jew.

Some people might argue that it is not an accurate historical document, because, a teenage girl wrote it, so she might have put her emotions in it and messed the facts; at the beginning of the book, she complained a lot about how other people are always wrong and that she is always right. Also, Anne doesn't appear right in mind in some parts of the book, so, once again, she could have twisted the facts. Another reason is that she does not mention many actual Holocaust facts.

This book is only popular because of the situation that the girl is in, not the actual diary of the girl; if she did not live during the Holocaust, we wouldn't have cared about this Jewish girl. Personally, I would have liked that, because this was such a long, boring book. I had to read about her complaining about other people and her "curiosity" about females (can I touch your breasts as an act of friendship. I get ecstasies every time I see the naked figure of a woman) She also kissed a girl before this, so I don't think your "curiosity" can go that far. This book only contained about five pages of actual Holocaust facts or effects, the rest was just about what I said about earlier.
