Neither. The world is going to end, if we can call it that, when the sun finally cools down and the earth becomes uninhabitable. In a few billion years time - long after our present calendar no longer exists.

This is a very good answer. but the answer your looking for is 2012. 20212 is a common typo. the answer is 2012. that's right. a little more than three years from now. the specific date is dec. 21st. dec. 23rd is a less common prediction, but there are some who support this theory (of course their both theories until one of them happens). but anyway, its like dec. 1st 2009 right now. you might think its in two years but really it is over three years from now, because the actual happening takes place very late in 2012. but the whole 'end of the world' thing is quite possibly a load of nonsense. The Mayans never said the world would end. NEVER once did they ever say that. i don't know why everybody thinks that's what they said. THEY DIDN'T. they just said a cycle would come to an end, and a new one would begin. nothing disastrous.

The world will end on may 21 2011. It happens exactly 7000 years after the world ended last time on the second month and the 17 day, which is may 21 and in the year 4990 bc. read your bible and you will find that God has never destroyed anyone without warning them first just like in the days of Noah and nineva and sodam and gamora. If you search you will never find any example of a surprise ending. Remember God is the same today yesterday and forever. Read amos 3-7, 1 thes 5, revelation 3-3. We who are saved will know the exact date of the end the rest of the world will not, they will argue all the way up to may 21 2011. Read mark again and you will see the son is not Jesus the son is Satan and the angels are the fallen angels and no man is no unsaved man will know. God told Noah to get into the ark 7 days before the flood on may 14 4990 bc. don't you know a day with the lord is as a thousand years and and a thousand years is as a day. on may 14 1948 Israel became a nation against all odds. Did you learn the parable of the fig tree like God told you to beloved. 40 years later on may 21 1988 was the date God put Satan in charge of the churches and then there was only one who could open the book that was worthy in heaven and He opened the book of Daniel and we understood the 23 years.

We just don't know. Most religions and a great number of scientists feel the world will end eventually. But nobody knows when, and we are not supposed to know according to God. Only He knows, he just warns us to be ready.
