The main criticism of ancient Athenian democracy is the limitations Athenian law placed upon who could be considered a citizen. The only Athenians who were considered full citizens were Athens-born men of at least 18 years of age. And to be considered Athens-born, both of one's parents had to have been citizens. But while women could be considered citizens, they had no voice in the Assembly, and no real rights within the democracy. Furthermore, slaves had no voice whatsoever in the Athenian democracy.
In ancient Athens, the right to vote was limited to free male citizens who had completed their military training and were at least 18 years old. This excluded women, slaves, and foreign residents, which meant that only a small percentage of the population could participate in the democratic process. While the system was groundbreaking for its time, it was not inclusive by modern standards. Thus, while eligible citizens had the right to vote, many others did not.

Western democracy has a variety of ancient roots, but none runs deeper (or stronger) than Ancient Greece; in particular, the ancient city-state of Athens. It was in Athens that democracy first appeared in recorded history, and it is from Athens that modern advocates of democracy have taken at least partial inspiration for their own commitments to government "of the people, by the people, for the people."

To qualify to vote at the assemblies in ancient Athens, a citizen must be a free male, at least 18 years old, and have completed his military training. Additionally, he must be a member of one of the recognized tribes of Athens. These criteria ensured that only eligible Athenian citizens participated in the democratic process.
In ancient Athens, citizenship was limited to freeborn males who were Athenians by birth, meaning both of their parents had to be Athenian citizens. Citizens had to be at least 18 years old to participate in the assembly and other civic duties. Women, slaves, and foreigners (metics) were excluded from citizenship and its associated rights. This exclusivity underscored the importance placed on lineage and the direct ties to the city-state.
Erotic touching in a movie theater is unhygienic, illegal, against theater rules, and rude to those around you. There really was no 'ancient Greece' if by that you mean a single country with leaders. There were only city-states -- each with its own leaders. How to get rid of leaders? Killing them is a tried and true way. Otherwise, at least in Athens, they were a true democracy -- every free citizen got a vote.
