This question is not complete. In any case, if you don't know, you probably shouldn't be playing with electricity ESPECIALLY POWER SUPPLIES. This is very dangerous work for a begginer. If you want to learn, that's good. The best thing to do is go to your nearest electronics store and buy a few simple kits USING ONLY A LOW VOLTAGE to start with. That way its harder to hurt yourself if you make a mistake. Once you have made a few small things then you can progress to slightly harder ones and work your way up to power supplies. In the meantime this will give you some idea. There are hundreds of types of power supplies. Each uses different materials. A switch mode power supply, like the one in most computers has hundreds of pieces including ferrite Transformers, MOSFET switching transistors, diodes, resistors, control ICs, feedback ICs and isolators, switches, fuses and this list is NOWHERE near complete. For a transformer power supply there are just as many pieces. The power supply for final stage bias in a transmitter is a lot different again. This has only a few simple pieces but is still dangerous to work on. There are also high voltage power supplies which can be either switch mode flyback circuits, switch mode transformer circuits, iron core transformer circuits and capacitive pump circuits.
