There should be many, in retrospect. Muslim scientists and philosophers were truly great, giving us many mathematical, astronomical, medical and philosophical contributions at a time when the western world was just coming out of our primitive stages. Cities across the Muslim world were sophisticated and all but modern, including very effective water and sewage systems, while our ancestors in Europe were throwing various things out onto the streets. Muslim/Islamic/Arabic culture and history unfolded, and the clear pre-eminence of Islamic scholarship lost its footing. We will all be better off when they can embrace again their huge talents and gifts in the sciences and every area of thought. In keeping with Nobel's express instructions, It is my express wish that in awarding the prizes no consideration whatever shall be given to the nationality of the candidates, so that the most worthy shall receive the prize, whether he be a Scandinavian or not. Lists of Nobel Laureates by nationality or ethnicity are not easy to come by. Perhaps they exist. Certainly, there are many laureates of Arabic/Islamic origin, but that would be a matter of some research to uncover.
