During the Sea Ventures struggles to continue on to Virginia, John Smith's adventure series fueled new interest in the colonies. As a result, more money was invested in the Virginia Company. Clergy in England called for support of the stranded colonists. Three ships set sail from England in 1610, headed by new governor, Thomas West, the Baron De La Warr (Baron Delaware), and included a doctor, food, supplies and even more colonists. He forced the Patience and Deliverance ships, that were fleeing the abandoned colony to return with him.
