President Franklin D Roosevelt essentially got us out of the Great Depression by creating the NEW DEAL. This new deal consisted of government jobs, required to be filled in, lowering unemployment rate by 1935. Some of the programs that requires government jobs still are implied on the government today- on example of this is the WPA. Some people call bluff on FDR ending the Depression, but that goes down to opinion. If president Herbert Hoover had remained president, the U.S would not be the same as it is today. Herbert Hoover was the president at the time the Depression started and was highly blamed for the Great Depression starting. Everything that was used as a necessity of life was blamed on him, such as Hoover Villes(buildings created through driftwood), or Hoover Blankets(Newspaper used as blankets), but many others were used. FDR won the next election by a land slide, and within his first 100 days of being president, he lowered the unemployment rate by 2%, dropping unemployment in 1933 from 23.1% to 21.1% through his programs. The "Three Little Pigs" was animated by Walt Disney, and was symbolic towards the Depression. The wolf represented the Depression, The pigs represented average american citizens, and when they worked together, that represented FDR's government programs. FDR was insrumental in ending the Great Depression, deny it or not, because his programs still get used today, and the dropped unemployment in the U.S at that time by 11.4%.
