Let's not forget about the cache or the system bus either. Modern processors come with cache built in and nowadays hold a higher capacity of data. No matter how fast a processor is, it is only as fast as the bus will allow it to be. Clocks speeds are a great deal higher than those of latter years. Keep in mind as well, the ENIAC probably could not fit into my bedroom, yet my Android phone is a far superior computing device than the ENIAC.
