Kalidasa does not have a specific work that describes Amarkantak. However, Amarkantak, a sacred site in India where three important rivers originate, is mentioned in various Hindu scriptures and epics like the Mahabharata and the Skanda Purana.
It is a long story. Srinatha Mahakavi did not agree with the episode of Gajendra Moksha of Maha Bhaagavatham written by Bammera Pothana and did not quite surmise how Lord Mahavishnu could leave every one behind in Vaikuntham without a word to Maha Lakshmi, without his powerful weapons Shankham, Chakram, and Gadha, etc and ran for the rescue of the great Gajendra, the elephant- king. Gajendra was in the clutches of death by the cruel crocodile who was not an inch perturbed by the mighty pull of the elephant towards the shore of the river. When Gajendra lost his all hopes and energy, he prayed earnestly and with great devotion to Sri Mahavishnu to save him from the clutches of the crocodile. Instantly, Lord Mahavishnu left Vaikuntham and rescued the elephant. By this episode Bammara Pothana depicted the immense and unfathomable mercy of the Lord for His devotees. This was contradicted by Srinatha Mahakavi. So, to make him understand the love of the Lord, Bammera Pothana one day called Srinatha Mahakavi and his young son for a luncheon and served them. The boy finished the lunch quickly and went out to play at the well in the backyard. As Srinatha was still having his lunch, Pothana went to the backyard and threw a big stone into the well and made a hue and cry saying that the boy had fallen in the well. Srinatha got shocked and quickly rushed to the well with empty hands, and was trying to rescue the boy and even trying to jump into the well. Pothana then pacified Srinatha saying that it was a drama and the child was safe. By this Pothana made Srinatha understand the spontaneous reflex of the situation that warranted him to rush to the rescue of the boy without asking for any thing. Pothana explained that The love of the Lord was akin to the love of a parent towards their children. Thus Srinatha could perceive the love and mercy of the Lord expressed in Gajendra Moksham.

Yes, it often is (written language, written instructions). Written is the past participle of the verb to write (e.g. I have written).
Well if you think about it- neither one is correct as it would be: To whom have you written to. or What have you written. or It says that you have written..... I hope this helped xx
