Science is not a religion - quite the opposite. For something to be scientific it has to be put to questioning, placing doubt, and proving or disproving by experimentation on a quantifible measure. Religion is based on faith which is believing something even though or even dispite there being no physical evidence. One can be a scientist who is religious as well (there are many) or one can be neither religious not scientific.

If one practices "science" as a religion he is probably doing both aspects wrong and his "evidence" would be tainted by "faith". Today's scientists forget that their "science" is theory-driven and not evidence-based. They FIRST create a theory and then try to match lab experiments to their theory. If that is the case, then why they are so angry when someone talks about the "possibility" of God's existence as a theory? They say "let me look at the evidence", but they too have no evidence to back up their theories of 11-dimentional multiple universes...
