Alatorre is a surname from Spain and means "at the tower" ; however, there may also be different variants of the name (one of these might be de la Torre, which means "from the tower.") There is a place in Spain called Turre, and variants on Alatorre also include Alaturre and de la Turre, which may be of further interest because Turre is a village of Muslim origin.

It is also often noted that words with "Al" in Spanish are actually from Arabic. For instance, the word Alhambra and and even the famous Mexican soup "Albondigas" (al-bunduq in Arabic). There is also another surname "atorre," as well as "alatore," which complicates things.
