The Camp David Accords, signed in 1978 between Israel and Egypt, laid the groundwork for ongoing U.S. involvement in Middle Eastern diplomacy, establishing the U.S. as a key mediator in regional conflicts. The accords also led to a peace treaty that has influenced U.S. military aid and political relationships in the region, particularly with Israel. Additionally, the framework of the accords has been referenced in subsequent peace negotiations, shaping American foreign policy and its approach to conflict resolution in the Middle East. Today, the legacy of the accords continues to impact U.S. relations with Arab nations and the geopolitical dynamics of the region.
