In the 1920s in some countries - such as in European countries, USA, Canada, Australia, etc. - women were able to work outside the home more and they were no longer regarded only as housewives and mothers or just as "slaves" to the men. Women began to have more equal chances to work in many different professions and in several other areas. For instance they were able to play sports professionally, e.g. tennis. However, in countries situated in the Middle East, Africa, etc., hardly any of those new roles became possible for women.
Women were officially allowed to enter bars in Saskatchewan in 1966, following the repeal of the provincial law that prohibited women from entering bars. When Harvard University began admitting women in 1977, it initially enrolled 2,000 female students. This marked a significant shift as women had previously only been admitted to Harvard's Radcliffe College, which was a separate institution for women. The decision to fully integrate women into Harvard College resulted in a historic change in the university's demographics and culture.
