The warring powers signed an armistice, which is a two dollar word for cease fire, which went into effect at 11:00 am on November 11, the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, 1918. For many years afterward November 11 was called Armistice Day, it still is in some countries. In the United Staes it is now Veteran's Day.
It ended in 1848 with the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo.
The Yuan Dynasty ended because of a rebellion consisting of peasants.
Because WWI was considered to be "the war to end all wars." Unfortunately that's not happened
The Punic Wars ended with complete destruction of the Carthaginian Empire, and the survivors were sent into slavery by the Romans.
The Napoleonic Wars ended with Napoleon's exile to St. Helena after the Battle of Waterloo.
One thing that's interesting about that war-It took place in 1914, which is when Christ became king of Jehovah God's kingdom. The Bible explains how this is so. In Daniel 4:10-17 tells about a vision that Nebuchadnezzar had, 1 that was pivotal not just for back then but for our day. The angel that was speaking in it had declared that Nebuchadnezzar would lose his sanity for a period of "seven times". (Daniel 4:16) However, the angel also mentions that the purpose of Nebuchadnezzar's humbling was to show that Jehovah has the power to give the kingdom of mankind (not just Babylon) to whomever He wants, even the "lowliest of men". (Daniel 4:17) So this shows that the prophecy has a broader fulfillment, as well as 1 other point-The "seven times". In order to calculate the "times" in a much broader sense, one has to use the math rule given in Numbers 14:34 & Ezekiel 4:6-"A day for a year". In Revelation 12:6 & 14 show that 1,260 days equal 3.5 "times". This means that 1 'time' would be 360 days. Using the "day for a year" rule, 360 days would equal 360 years. If you were to do that 7 times, you would end up with 2,520 years. Jesus had said that Jerusalem (which represented God's kingdom at the time) would be trampled on by the nations until a fulfilled time. (Luke 21:24) This "trampling" was still happening while Jesus was on Earth, so that would point to a future time it would end. The last king that reigned over Jerusalem on Earth was in 607 B.C.E., which is when the 'trampling' started. No one would take the throne until Jesus, who would have "the legal right" to do so. (Ezekiel 21:26-27) With that information, if you look at the prophecy in Daniel, specifically the points about the "kingdom of mankind" and the "seven times", you can see where the need to use the "day for a year" rule comes into play. Starting with 607 B.C.E., if you go forward 2,520 years, you end up in 1914 A.D. (since there is no zero year), when World War 1 began. This is also when Satan was tossed out of Heaven after losing the war there. (Revelation 12:7-9) (New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures)
The "war to end all wars" was supposedly what is referred to as the first world war, or WWI. It is obviously not the case that WWI ended wars. This phrase, or something like it, started with H.G. Wells, I believe.
