What were Napoleons 3 greatest achievements?

That that was called "the perfect battle", the Battle of Austerlitz, which had been carried out exactly as planned by Napoleon. In my opinion also the first part of the same campaign, that is the "manoeuvre on Ulm", which led to the encirclement and surrendering of an Austrian army of 50,000 men under Gen. Mack in Ulm is worth of being recorded as a component of the aforesaid greatest military accomplishment.

Why is Napoleon considered a significant figure in French history?

Yes he does. The reason being he is arguably not only one of the greatest Generals in History, he is certainly of the greatest in modern times. Added to which he is regarded still in France as a great statesman & politician. He was a compulsive worker capable of having several strands of thought simultaneously. But he was also callous in regard to his (allied) soldiers lives & made dubious choices in his subordinates. And then we come to Marengo, Austerlitz & Jena....
