I believe it was Leif Ericksonn, son of Erik the Red, a Norse man from Greenland. From what i recall, he was banned from Norway for a murder, then moved to Iceland with his men, then was banned for another murder, then moved to Greenland and conducted some expeditions from there to Newfoundland, which he named Vinland
Some facts are that Newfoundland is found on the northeastern part of Canada. Its natural resources are mainly iron, pertruleum, and natural gas. Its temperature, well I don't know that! I have been looking that up, but unfortunatly have not gotten an answer. So, please type up your best answer and it will really help me out!
