The War of Jenkins' Ear was fought between Great Britain and Spain from 1739 to 1748. The conflict was sparked by tensions over trade and territorial disputes in the Caribbean and the Americas, particularly after British captain Robert Jenkins presented his severed ear to Parliament as proof of Spanish mistreatment. This war later merged into the larger conflict known as the War of the Austrian Succession.
