Hitler's mother loved her children dearly, and spent most of her time with them-she was not a mean woman. Hitler's father was not cruel, but like most other fathers of that time. He wanted his son to follow in his career footsteps, while Hitler wanted to be an artist. Yes, he was actually quite a talented painter and skilled at sketching and drawing. Hitler loved his mother, and resented but respected his father. Both died while Hitler was an adolescent, and he ended up running away from home. I don't think Hitler's cruelty was genetic.
