But it was a terrible thing for the slaves we took them from their family's and shoved them on a boat for 6-12 weeks in harsh environments with no space and hardly any food to eat.
When they got there they work for hours and hours everyday and were beaten for not working or taking a break.
No one can defend the concept of one person owning another person as a piece of property; therefore slavery was never a good idea. What history tells us, and no one remembers, is the fact that those poor souls who were sold into slavery were sold by oppossing African tribes, and sometimes by their own brothers. (Added 1-25-11)
