Brushy Bill told his lawyer he was Billy the Kid but no one believed him(in that particular time there was not technology that could prove that. So he could be but he also could not be.
alot of people say billy the kid got shot when he was 21 but i found a website that begs to differ (see "Discuss" for the web site.)In 1949, an aging man called Ollie L. "Brushy Bill" Roberts, who lived in Hamilton County, Texas, about 100 miles southwest of the Dallas/Fort Worth area, declared that Pat Garrett had notkilled Billy the Kid that night in Fort Sumner, according to the Angelfire Internet site. Rather, Brush Bill contended, Garrett had killed another man, whose name was Billy Barlow. Brushy Bill claimed that he was the real Billy the Kid. He said that he, in fact, had escaped and fled Fort Sumner. He said he had lived in Mexico with the Yaqui Indians until things in the U. S. cooled down, then he returned to work, he claimed, as a Wild West performer, a law enforcer, and a mercenary, living under a dozen different aliases. He said that he served with Pancho Villa in the Mexican Revolution. He married four times.Undeniably, Bushy Bill bore certain physical resemblances to Billy the Kid. He appeared to know an exceptional amount about Lincoln in 1881, The Kid's escape from the Lincoln jail, and events in Fort Sumner. He had old acquaintances who vouched for him.On the other hand, Brushy Bill never seemed to have explained why so many people who knew and revered Billy the Kid grieved at the funeral on July 15, 1881. Brushy Bill's version of the killing finds no support in any other contemporary account. His story sometimes appears to run contrary to known history. Photographs of Brushy Bill as a young boy do not seem to match up precisely with the one known photograph of Billy the Kid.thanks this has been matchboy101

1. brushy bill Roberts was an old man that claimed to have been the infamous billy the kid back in the 1940's and wanted to get pardoned by the governor of all his crimes. He never did do to the reason that they didnt believe he was billy the kid. there is tons of evidence that says he is, and tons that says he wasn't. I guess the world will never know?2. I am a physician from that area of Texas. I have examined photos of Billy the Kid and of Brushy Bill. In historic photos of Billy the Kid, "Billy" had a recessed chin. "Brushy Bill" photos show a man with a sharp and prominent chin. Therefore, unless Brushy Bill had cosmetic surgery in the form of a chin implant back in the days before there was such a thing; in Hamilton County Texas during a time and place that is somewhat in the middle of nowhere, then it is almost certain that these two were not the same man. Of course I am not accounting for miracles of God or alien abduction cosmetic surgery. Which of course would have to be addressed on another Wikipedia query.3. I am an old man who grew up in Hico, where Brushy Bill Roberts died. I knew him and his wife. My father and his father both knew Mr. Roberts from another place in Texas where he lived before he came to Hico. They both said that Mr. Roberts' stories were nonsense and they had changed over the years. We lived in the country and Mr. Roberts lived in town. He knew me because he and my father would sometimes come across each other on a downtown street and they would stop and chat. On Saturdays I would go to the shoot-em-up at the local theater and sometimes my friends and I would go up to the schoolhouse to slide on the three-story fire escape. Often we would pass by Mr. Roberts house and he would be sitting on the porch in his overalls. He would call me over and ask about my father. He would sometimes ask me what I was doing in town and I would tell him about the movies. He would launch into Jesse James and Billy the Kid stories and he also claimed that he had made movies with Gene Autry. I always listened and was polite, but I thought he was just another old man telling stories for entertainment. A lot of that went on in Hico in that long ago time. My father knew a lot about Mr. Roberts' history and he tried to resist the stories that grew up when Mr. Roberts died, but people did not like to hear it, so he stopped. In my view, the whole think is "horse-hockey" as my father used to say. Mr. Roberts was a nice old man and so was Mrs. Roberts. She was always nice to me and my friends.
