Yes. She was born in 1595 and died March 1617. She was of the Powhatan tribe. In the Powhatan language, Pocahontas means "little wanton," a childhood nickname given to her because she liked to frolic around. It is also said she was given the name Pocahontas because out of superstition, the Powhatan thought the English could bring harm to her if they knew her real name. Her real name was Matoaka (or Matoika) and Amonute. She was converted to Christianity, and when she was baptized, she took the English name Rebecca. She married an Englishman named John Rolfe.
