The difference between the north and the south is the north did not have slavery but the south had the bad slavery and all that broughnt it intot the north and everything went mixed up. The north had factories and the south had plantiations.
Not all of the north thought slavery was bad and the people who were against slavery were in the north because the farms in the south needed them to tend fields and harvest cotton. Then if a slave escaped and became a northern citizen, they would obviously be against slavery.
The South was more agricultural and less populated. The North was more industrialized and advanced and was heavily populated. The South also relied heavily on slavery and promoted it. Whilst the North did not need slavery and thought it was a horrible practice.

The South want to keep slavery so badly because they wanted to be able to have work but they do not pay them, SO the South can make more money to buy more slaves, more lands, so they can pay their taxes. North did not like what the South didn't have to pay for their works. South depended on slavery to growth for their farms, their plantation to be good, If slavery did not happen South will have been worse.
