Not really in defending Denmark, but in liberating it. Denmark was easily overrun by the Nazis in the early days of the war, conquered in a day or two, in April 1940. The Germans remained in Denmark until the very last days of the war in Europe. The British were on the north end of the Allied line as the allies advanced across France and the Low Countries toward Germany, and just barely beat the Soviets to the neck of the Danish peninsula, by a matter of a few hours. This saved Denmark from a Cold War behind the Iron Curtain, under Russian domination.

The United States was one of many nations that were not combatants at the beginning of World War 1.
The Allies did not "control" countries like the Axis did. The Axis occupied countries because their goal was to control the government. The Allies liberated countries, meaning they set them free from Axis rule and back into their own control. When the Allies "lost" land, it meant that they were defending another country and the Germans took that country over. When, for example, the USSR "lost" land, it just means the Germans pushed them back.

No, Iceland was a part of the Kingdom of Denmark during World War 1 and therefore entered the war on the side of the Allies. Iceland's position as a Danish territory meant that it was automatically involved in the conflict.
Axis, Allies and Philippine rebels. Russia joined the Allies when Hitler invaded.
The Axis fought the Allies. The Allies were many countries, some of which were only involved for part of the war. Chief amongst the Allies were Great Britain, her Empire and Commonwealth, the USSR, the USA and France. But the Axis countries also fought countries such as Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium, Poland, Thailand (it was called Siam then), China, Greece etc. So World War Two was truly a world war.
Spain was not involved in World War 2. They were neutral
