Naturally the allies had thought this out as so many lifes were at risk. As far as I know they expected to get atleast a foothold. I may be wrong. The better question would be..........What reserve UNITS where there? The plan was to land at least 50,000 men on day one, and a further 50,00 each day for the first week. That was over and above the armoured and artillery units and their manpower.

Is General Reserve is Free Reserve?

No, a general reserve is not considered a free reserve. General reserves are created by setting aside a portion of profits for specific purposes, such as future contingencies or expansion, and are not typically available for distribution as dividends. Free reserves, on the other hand, refer to profits that are not earmarked for any specific use and can be distributed to shareholders.

Why did the allies select that specific strip of beach in Normandy for the d-day landings to occur?

The Dieppe raid of 1942, a costly failure, showed the Allies were incapable of taking intact any French port. There was a deception plan to show the invasion would be in the most obvious place, the Pas de Calais. (Opposite Dover) There was much Allied bombing from the air of the French communications system to disable German movement of reinforcements. The beaches were separated into 5 sections, 2 US, 2 British & 1 Canadian. Codenamed Gold, Juno, Sword, Omaha & Utah. There were casualties in large number on Omaha. There were also parachute & gliderborne landings on each flank of the beaches. The first objective was simply to get ashore, destroy defenses & establish a bridgehead. There was naval & air fire support. The planning process was long and exhaustive, the Allies had one chance to get it right, it was, and still is, the largest amphibious operation in history. D Day has the codename Operation Overlord. 6th June 1944.

What is a reserve book?

Reserve books refer to books that a library has set aside for students of a class to use. Since they are often required by students in order to complete assignments, there is a limit on how long any one student can borrow the item (the typical time limit is 2 hours in duration, but this can vary between libraries). Some libraries may not allow reserve books to be borrowed at all, but, instead, these materials are to be used within a designated area of the library.

Can you move to a different state if you are in the US Army Reserve?

Yes, of course, but you must inform the military of your move. You will be transferred to a reserve unit at your new location. If you are moving more than a certain distance (100 or 120 miles if I remember correctly) from any unit, you MAY be excused from drills or receive an administrative discharge under honorable conditions.
