Most modern scholars identify Narmer as the Scorpion King who ruled c.3100BC He may well be the same person as Menes who is said to have united the kingdoms of upper and lower Egypt. The length of his reign is not known

Around 5500 BC two kingdoms of Egypt began to settle on both sides of the Nile. They were united under King Menes, this is start of the Egyptian civilization.
