Before Farmington (originally called North Cottonwood) was established in 1847, the area was home to the Shoshone and Bannock people, both of whom spoke Uto-Aztecan languages.By the time Farmington was established the native peoples had been pushed away from the area, so none actually "lived in" Farmington.
