The Aztec Empire often made slaves of other Native tribes they conquered. They also practiced human sacrifices. Each year thousand of such sacrifices were made at top of their temples, the victims' hearts were cut out and offered to Aztec gods.

Actually there are recorded documents that show that the Native Americans did buy slaves from slave traders, the Cherokee for example were known to buy slaves (African & American slaves). While this was not large scale slavery as practiced by the American's it did exist.

Historically, it lasted in the colonies from the late 1600s until emancipation in 1865 after the Civil War. Many of the native American tribes also practiced slavery in that people captured in raids became slaves.
Since ever. Even before the conquest of the Americas by European settlers, many Native American civilizations practiced conquest and slavery of less advanced peoples. Some cultures (Mayans, Aztecs) even practiced human sacrifice with their conquered enemies.

Historically, slaves have come from various races and ethnicities, depending on the region and time period. Slavery has been practiced in different cultures and societies around the world, with individuals from different racial backgrounds being subjected to slavery.
They did in Europe. Orientals did Asia. Blacks did in Africa. Arabs did in the Middle East. And yes, even the Native Americans of North and South America practiced slavery. It's not a "black and white" thing.
Both civilizations worshiped the sun god and practiced in human sacrifices. Their temples were also extremely similar in design. The periods in which they existed in Central & South America are also very similar (added to above).
African slavery replaced Native American slavery in the encomienda system primarily due to the devastating impact of diseases brought by Europeans on the native populations, making them less able to withstand forced labor. Additionally, African slaves were less likely to escape due to their unfamiliarity with the landscape and were seen as more profitable due to being perceived as being physically stronger.
